I’m Savyra Meyer-Lippold.
Or simply SavoQuyn.

Making things is what drives me, whether by hand (as in stop-motion) or in my head, which may become lines in a screenplay. More about that a bit further down in the section on my Cape Town company, Moving Lines.

Since September 2023, my life and work have been based in Austria, and it’s here that I was suddenly captivated by AI. That is what this website is all about: Project Moya.

Ultimately, the interwebs is where we’re all locals, right? So- see you there!

Background

Culture

Growing up and living in different places in South Africa from 1953 till 2023, brought me a love of people and the creativity South Africa is bursting with. I come from farming communities, one being Afrikaans-speaking, the other English. But our family originally descended from German artisans and farmers who joined missionaries emigrating from Northern Germany in 1850.

Cut to the present day, where my South African German has been somewhat* useful in finding my feet after emigrating to Austria in 2023 to join my German husband. (*Austrian dialects will take me years.) My existing studio, Moving Lines, is still based in South Africa, and my new Austrian company is creatively called Savyra Meyer.

Education

I dropped out of high school in my penultimate year and am self-educated. Could have been the best twist of fate, looking back.

Except for the all-important Matric Certificate, which so far was required only once to enable me to do a vital animation course, the rest has been about enhancing my skills via online courses. What a pleasure, after learning illustration ‘by correspondence’ from the Press Art School in London, which was far more arduous.

One can achieve so much with so little, online. It was, and continues to be, an education. This website is a record of my latest semester: AI, especially OpenAI.
